Wesley Chapel Man Shot to Death in St. Petersburg

The shooter took his SUV, which was found on fire, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A Wesley Chapel man died of wounds he received from being shot during an argument, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Joshua Starkey, 35, of Wesley Chapel, died at a hospital where he was taken after he was shot.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 1) in the parking lot of the the Twin Brooks Apts., 4601 22nd Ave S. Police said Mr. Starkey was parked in his SUV when another man approached.

The other man fired shots at Mr. Starkey as the SUV crashed into a concrete wall that surrounds the parking lot. The shooter left Mr. Starkey bleeding in the parking lot and drove off in the SUV.

The SUV was found a short time later, on fire, near  Fifth Avenue S and 26th Street.

Police said they have no description of the suspect at this time.
