Two Accused of Parking Meter Vandalism

A total of 74 parking meters were damaged by spray sealant, St. Petersburg police say.

ST. PETERSBURG – A man and a woman were arrested Friday (Nov. 8) and charged in connection with damaging numerous parking meters, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Nicholas Ryan Scott Windholz, 34, of Lutz, was charged with three counts of Criminal Mischief, a felony. Kiersten Lynn Lyons, 32, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count each of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Marijuana.

The two were charged in connection with three incidents in which foam sealant was sprayed into parking meters in downtown St. Petersburg. (Click here and here for related stories.) Police said a total of 74 parking meters were damaged in the incidents, which cost thousands of dollars in damage.

The first incident happened between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 600 block of Central Avenue. Police said 27 meters were damaged.

The second incident happened between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in the 400 block of Central Avenue. That time, 26 meters were damaged.

Police said 21 parking meters were vandalized overnight Tuesday (Nov. 5) in the 100 block of Beach Drive NE and Bayshore Drive in downtown St. Petersburg.
