Thonotosassa Man Accused in Murder

Hillsborough deputies said they had answered calls at his home in connection with non-violent domestic disturbances in 2018 but no arrests had been made.

THONOTOSASSA – A Thonotosassa man has been accused of murder in connection with the death of a woman, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Samuel Richard Parsons, 54, of Thonotosassa, was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder with a Weapon. Deputies said Parsons is a registered Sexual Offender. He served about 14 years in
Florida State Prison from April 1984 to March 1998 on a charge of Sexual Battery, Victim Under 12. Parson’s criminal history also includes Distribution of Marijuana in 1998 and Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender in 2001.

Deputies said they were called to an address on Ellison Road in Thonotosassa about 8:09 Sunday (March 17) morning when a  neighbor contacted 911 after being asked to call law enforcement by Parsons.

Deputies arrived on scene and detained Parsons who was standing on the front porch of the residence. When they went inside the home, deputies said they found a deceased woman with upper body trauma.

The identity of the woman and her injuries were not immediately available.

Deputies said they arrested Parson after interviews and processing of the crime scene
