HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tennessee teen has been accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Justin Bowen, 18, of Hendersonville, TN, was charged with one count of sexual battery on a victim younger than 12.

Deputies said Bowen and his his parents traveled from Tennessee to Florida in mid-February to visit friends. While at their residence, Bowen was left alone with the 5 year old for about 10 to 15 minutes while her parents walked outside to get the mail and speak with neighbors. During this time, deputies said, Bowen had unlawful sexual activity with the child.

The child later told a family member, who then notified the Hillsborough sheriff.

Bowen returned to Tennessee and refused to cooperate with investigators. However, deputies said, they were able to gather enough evidence for an arrest warrant. Bowen returned to Hillsborough and turned himself in.
