Teen Shot in Dunedin Home Invasion, Deputies Say

DUNEDIN – Deputies are investigating reports of a home invasion shooting that seriously injured an 18-year-old woman, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman, Naomi R. Rosado, was taken to a trauma hospital where she was in intensive care late Wednesday (July 18).

The incident happened about 1:03 p.m. at an apartment on New York Avenue in Dunedin. Deputies were called to the home on a report of a home invasion. When they arrived, they found Rosado, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Rosado’s live-in-boyfriend, 19-year-old Charles Tenpenny, was also at the home. Tenpenny told detectives that he was in the home with Rosado when an unidentified man wearing all black walked into their home through their unlocked front door. Tenpenny said the man was armed with a handgun when he shot Rosado and fled on foot northbound along New York Avenue.

Tenpenny called 911 and tried rendering medical aid to Rosado.

Deputies from the K-9 Unit and the Flight Unit responded to help search for the suspect but were unsuccessful.
