Teen Injured in Tampa Drive-By Shooting

He was shot multiple times while riding his bicycle, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A 17 year old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a drive-by shooting today (Oct. 26), the Tampa Police Department said.

The teen was shot multiple times and suffered injuries that are considered very serious, thoughnon-life threatening. Police said it appears that he was targeted. At this time, the motive for the shooting remains unclear.

The shooting happened about 11:48 a.m. near N 20th Street and E Fairbanks Street. Police said that, when they arrived for a call of shots fired, they found the teen lying in the street. The teen told police that he was riding his bicycle when a car drove by and someone in the car opened fire.

Police released a photograph showing a silver, four-door vehicle, possibly an Acura, that was involved in the shooting. In the photo, the car is traveling east on E Fairbanks Street. Behind the vehicle in purple is the teen on a bicycle. The photograph shows the car driving by the teen moments before someone in the car opened fire, striking the boy multiple times.
