No one was injured, according to the Tampa Police Department.

TAMPA – A teen was arrested after he fired a gun in Rowlett Park, the Tampa Police Department said.

The 17 year old was charged with discharging a firearm in public, minor in possession of a firearm, resisting arrest without violence, and violation of probation for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Tampa police said they were proactively patrolling in Rowlett Park, 2401 E Yukon St. , after hearing of a large party being held in the park. While monitoring the party, officers said they heard gunshots.

Two officers said they saw a teen behind a tree firing into the park. Numerous other officers were in the park and in the immediate area. All units converged and found the teen riding out of the
park on a bicycle.

A witness saw the teen take the firearm from his waistband and try to throw it away. The witness secured the firearm for officers.

Police said the teen was taken into custody moments later. The boy claimed to have “found” the firearm in an alley, police said.

No one was injured.
