The 17 year old was crossing a street when she was hit.

ST. PETERSBURG – A 17-year-old girl died after she was struck by a hit and run driver while crossing a street, St. Petersburg police said.

Alina Marie Perez was struck about 7:07 a.m. Monday (March 20) while she was walking from west to east Dr. MLK Street N near 55th Avenue N. Police said the vehicle that hit her was a northbound red Buick Rendezvous.

There may have been a person riding a motorcycle or a scooter who may have witnessed this accident. Police investigators are asking that person to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department.
