Tarpon Springs police are searching for the person who stole a city-owned pickup truck this morning.

TARPON SPRINGS – Police here are searching for a city-owned maintenance truck that was stolen in the Lowe’s loading area this morning (May 12).

The theft happened about 6:52 a.m. this morning. Officers said the pickup truck was left unattended with the keys in the ignition, but was not running, while a Tarpon Springs employee was picking up materials for the city. On the video surveillance a man comes up on a bicycle and enters the vehicle, steals the vehicle and heads north out of the parking lot of the Lowes, at 41800
U.S. 19 N. The bicycle was left behind, and is being processed as evidence.

The truck is a white four-door 2007 Ford F150 pickup truck with a yellow city tag. It has a city of Tarpon Springs seal on driver’s and passenger’s side doors. If anyone has information regarding this incident please contact Tarpon Springs Police Department detectives at (727) 938-2849.
