Tampa police said she admitted she was driving the vehicle that hit a moped driver.

TAMPA – A Tampa woman has been charged in connection with an April 10 hit-and-run crash on Nebraska Avenue that killed a moped driver, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Iris Nereida Rosario, 64, was charged with one count of Leaving the Scene of a Crash with a Death. The name of the deceased woman was not available.

The April 10 crash happened about 8:42 p.m. when a 33-year-old woman was riding a moped northbound on Nebraska Avenue. As the moped approached E 112th Avenue, it struck a pedestrian in the northbound
lanes of Nebraska.

Police said the driver of the moped was ejected from the moped and landed in the northbound lanes of Nebraska where she was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop after striking the moped driver.

Witnesses provided police with a description of the vehicle, which, officers said, ultimately led detectives to Rosario. Her vehicle fit the description, and the front end damage to her vehicle was consistent with the kind of damage that would be expected in a crash of this type.

Police said Rosario admitted to detectives that she was driving her vehicle at that time and place.
