Tampa Woman Charged with DUI, Hit and Run

A witness followed her car until officers stopped it, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A Tampa woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The pedestrian, an adult man whose name was not released, was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Danielle Swanson, 34, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of Driving Under the Influence with Serious Bodily Injury, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury, and DUI.

Police said that, about 8:51 p.m. Tuesday (April 23), the pedestrian was walking eastbound across E Davis Boulevard when he was hit. The driver drove around the pedestrian and continued northbound on E Davis Boulevard.

A witness was able to provide a tag number and followed the vehicle until it was stopped at Nebraska Avenue and 17th Street. Tampa police said officers conducted the stop and determined Swanson, the driver, was impaired.
