Tampa Police Charge Man in Fatal Motel Shooting

He is charged with manslaughter in connection with Monday’s (July 24) shooting death of Yasmine Tyson, according to the Tampa Police Department.

TAMPA – A Tampa man was arrested and charged with Monday’s (July 24) fatal shooting at the Travelers Inn Motel, the Tampa Police Department said.

Christopher Carithers, 37, of Tampa, was charged with manslaughter and felon in possession of a weapon. The charges arose from the shooting death of Yasmine L Tyson, 37, who was found unconscious at the motel on E Busch Boulevard. Ms. Tyson was taken to a hospital where she died of her wounds.

The Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force established leads in the case, which pointed them to Carithers’ location on Thursday (July 27). While the task force members were conducting surveillance, they said they saw Carithers gettng out of a vehicle in front of a home in the 1500 block of E 24th Avenue. Carithers was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
