Tampa Police Arrest Two after Early Morning Gunfire
Police are searching for a third person.
TAMPA – Two men were arrested this morning (June 6) after a police chase during which a gun was aimed at an officer, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Reshard Mills, 21, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of discharging a firearm from a vehicle, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and resisting with violence. Tyrell Leach, 18, of Tampa, was charged with fleeing to elude, burglary, and resisting without violence.
Police responded to a report of gunfire aabout 1:20 a.m. at Williams Park, 4362 E Osborne Ave. Upon arriving, officers said they saw two vehicles headed northbound on N 43rd Street shooting at each other. The officers activated the emergency lights and siren. Officers began a pursuit when the cars failed to pull over. During the pursuit a gun was pointed at the police.
The pursuit ended when the car tried to drive over a median and the vehicle became disabled. Three occupants from the car fled. Two were caught and the third got away.
