Tampa Police Accuse Teen of Murdering Pasco Man

The victim and his son had arranged on Craigslist to meet with the suspects to sell a dirt bike to them, Tampa police said. Police are searching for a second suspect.

TAMPA – Police have arrested one teen and are searching for a second suspect in the murder of a Pasco man Tuesday (Jan. 31) evening.

James Beck, 44, of Holiday, died after he was shot, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Ramontrae Williams, 16, was charged with first-degree felony murder and robbery. Police said they are searching for a second suspect.

The shooting happened about 7:03 p.m. at at N 18th Street and E 24th Avenue. Officers said Mr. Beck’s son posted a notice on Craigslist to sell his dirt bike. After several communications with a potential buyer, he arranged to meet with the potential buyer in Tampa. Both he and his father traveled to Tampa with the dirt bike in the truck bed.

They met with the two young men and, police said, it soon became clear that the suspects intended to rob the victims. One of the suspects shot Mr. Beck and the suspects took the dirt bike.

Police said they were able to identify and locate Williams. They found the dirt bike near Williams’ residence.
