Tampa Police Accuse St. Petersburg Men of Street Racing

One man had two young children in the car, according to the Tampa Police Department.

TAMPA -Two St. Petersburg men have been accused of street racing on the Gandy Bridge, the Tampa Police Department said.

Michael Lemire, 27, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one misdemeanor count of unlawful racing on a highway and two felony counts of child neglect because two young children were in the car while he was street racing, officers said.

Michael Segler, 28, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of unlawful racing on a highway, a misdemeanor.

Tampa police said they targeted the Gandy Bridge over the weekend because of street racing issues. Late Saturday (June 2) and early Sunday (June 3) officers wrote several traffic citations. They arrested Lemire and Segler late Saturday.
