Tampa Police Accuse Man of Rape

The rape happened early this morning (May 14), Tampa police said.

TAMPA – Police here have arrested a man and charged him with raping a woman behind a business early this morning (May 14).

Andre Dakota Lawson, 23, of 3719 W Wisconsin Ave., #14, Tampa, is charged with sexual battery with a deadly weapon and armed kidnapping, according to Tampa police.

Police said the victim, whose name is being withheld, told officers she saw the man in a nearby convenience store and that he followed her as she walked home around 4:38 a.m. The man brandished a knife and forced the victim behind a business at 6310 S Dale Mabry Hwy. where he raped her. Officers blanketed the area. Based on a detailed description and video from the convenience store, detectives located the suspect at his residence, where he was arrested without incident.
