Tampa Murder Suspect Caught in Louisiana

Keith Earl Davis | Tampa Police | Arrests

Tampa police will bring him back to face murder and other charges.

TAMPA – Keith Earl Davis, the suspect in the Dec. 11 murder of a Tampa man, has been caught in Sulphur, LA, a small town near the Texas border, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Davis, who fled from Tampa in the victim’s car after the murder, was arrested without incident, police said. Tampa police detectives are headed to Louisiana to bring Davis back to Tampa to face charges of first degree murder, robbery, and grand theft.

Davis, 43, is suspected of killing William Leslie McGoff. Tampa police said they discovered that McGoff had been murdered on Monday (Dec. 12), after co-workers police to check on him because he had not shown up for work. Police said they went to McGoff’s home at 4928 Chariton Ave., where they found his body and saw that the home appeared to have been ransacked. McGoff was last seen alive Sunday (Dec. 11).

Police released a description of the car and asked the public for help in locating it.

Officers said forensic evidence implicates Davis. Police said the investigation shows that McGoff’s car was been spotted in north Florida and Louisiana with a person matching Davis’ description.

Additional details regarding Davis’ arrest are not available at this time.
