Tampa Man Tried to Kill Ex-Girlfriend’s Husband, Deputies Say

The man had recently been in a dating relationship with the victim’s wife, according to the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man has been accused of trying to murder the husband of a former girlfriend, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Allen O’Neal, 56, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with a stab wound.

Jose Alberto Casanova, 36, of Tampa, was charged with one count of attempted murder in the first degree. Deputies said he had recently been in a dating relationship with O’Neal’s wife.

Deputies said the stabbing happened about 6:36 a.m. Thursday (June 15) in a parking lot at Reflections Apts. at 10314 Zackary Circle in Riverview. Deputies said Casanova ambushed O’Neal and stabbed him with a sharp object that was wrapped in a cloth.

Deputies said they found Casanova later that day in Riverview. They said he admitted having a physical confrontation with O’Neal.
