He was taken into custody Sunday evening at the Orlando International Airport as he returned to the U.S. from a trip abroad, the Temple Terrace Police Department said.

TEMPLE TERRACE – A Tampa man has been charged in connection with a March 28 traffic crash that killed a local doctor, the Temple Terrace Police Department said.

Igbinosa Oghubor, 35, of Tampa, was charged with one count of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of Dr. Charles Williams, Jr., 70, of Temple Terrace. Dr. Williams was killed when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a car traveling at a high rate of speed.

Temple Terrace police said their investigation revealed that immediately before the impact Dr. Williams was stopped on Gillette Avenue for the red traffic signal at Fowler Avenue. When the signal turned green, Dr. Williams drove into the intersection and was immediately struck on the driver’s side by Oghubor’s 2014 Dodge Charger, which was eastbound on Fowler.

The department’s reconstruction of the crash calculated Oghubor’s speed to be at least 95 miles per hour. The Dodge’s vehicle data recorder revealed that Oghubor’s speed five seconds before impact ranged from
87 to 93 miles per hour, officers said.

Using this information, police got an arrest warrant for Oghubor, who was taken into custody Sunday (July 1) evening at the Orlando International Airport as he returned to the U.S. from a trip abroad.
