Tampa Man Accused of Murder

The victim was hit with a hammer, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said he admitted committing the murder.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Tampa man has been arrested and charged with murder in the beating death of another Tampa man, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sean Anderson, 47, of Tampa, was charged with one count each of murder in the first degree (premeditated) and burglary with assault or battery in connection with the beating death of Wendall Scott, 63. Mr. Scott was killed Sunday (Feb. 4) in his home off of Spencer Circle near the Hard Rock Casino.

Deputies said Anderson was seen in a surveillance video arriving at Mr. Scott’s residence on Spencer Circle about 6:07 a.m. Sunday. He entered the house through an unlocked back door.

Anderson went into the bedroom where Mr. Scott was sleeping and struck the him in the head, face and neck with a hammer. Police said Anderson took Mr. Scott’s wallet, money, methamphetamine and credit cards.

After he was arrested, deputies said, Anderson admitted to the offense.
