Tampa Man Accused of 85 Counts of Possessing Child Pornography

Hillsborough deputies received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

TAMPA – A Tampa man has been accused of having multiple images of child pornography on his computer, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Edwin Mendez-Figueroa, 52, of Tampa, was charged with 85 counts of possession of child pornography. Additional digital devices were found and further forensic examination of these devices are pending.
Additional charges could be forthcoming.

Deputies said the department’s Internet Predator Unit on Thursday (Nov. 29) served a court-authorized search warrant at Mendez-Figueroa’s home on Otto Villa Place after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

An on-scene forensic examination of a computer device belonging to Mendez-Figueroa found 85 images/videos of children depicted in various sexual acts.
