Two Stabbed During Dispute on Dunedin Causeway
One of the suspects threw the knife used in the stabbings into the intracoastal waterway, Pinellas deputies said.
DUNEDIN – A New Port Richey man and his stepson were stabbed Sunday (May 19) during an argument on the Dunedin Causeway, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Dwayne Rouleau, 54, of New Port Richey, suffered multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. His stepson, Christopher Gourlay, 19, also of New Port Richey, was treated at the scene.
Lynette Kist, 48, of Clearwater, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Immediately after her release from the hospital, Kist was arrested and charged with one count each of One count of Battery and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Javier Solis, 41, of Clearwater, was charged with one count each of of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Battery, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Deputies said that, about 5:23 p.m. Sunday, they were called to the Dunedin Causeway for a report of a stabbing. While they were responding to the causeway, they received information that the suspect had left the causeway in a Ford F-150 truck.
While answering the call, deputies said they found a truck leaving the area that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies stopped the truck near the intersection of Tradewinds Drive and
Bayshore Boulevard. Solis was driving and Kist was in the passenger seat.
Deputies said Solis and Kist had originally been parked on the southwest causeway beach next to Rouleau and his family. Witnesses told deputies that, at some point during the day, Solis and Kist had an argument with Rouleau.
Kist walked up behind Rouleau and placed him in a headlock. Rouleau’s stepson, Gourlay, saw this and pulled Kist away from Rouleau.
Solis went to his truck and got a knife before joining the fray. Deputies said Solis tried pulling Kist out of the way and accidentally cut her with the knife.
Witnesses told deputies that Solis then stabbed Rouleau multiple times in the torso and then hit Gourlay with his fists.
Deputies said Solis and Kist fled the scene in the Ford F-150 truck. Before they were stopped, deputies said, Kist took the knife used in the stabbing and threw it out the passenger window of the truck into the intracoastal waterway.
