St. Petersburg Woman Drives into House

She refused to submit to DUI testing, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – Nine residents in a St. Petersburg house got an abrupt wake up call this morning (June 10) when a 2013 Toyota hit the front of their home.

St. Petersburg police charged the driver, Elaine A. Ribeiro, 40, of St. Petersburg, with driving under the influence. None of the residents was injured.

The crash happened about 8:02 a.m. on 17th Avenue N. When officers arrived on scene, they said they spoke to Ribeiro, who appeared to be under the influence of a chemical or controlled substance. Ribeiro refused to perform field sobriety tests or provide a urine sample upon requests from the investigating officers.
