St. Petersburg Woman Accused of Hitting Police Officer

She had been in a fight with a man earlier, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg woman has been accused of striking a police officer, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Nancy Lisa Walker, 52, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Police said that, shortly before midnight Saturday (Sept. 29), officers were called to the 2000 block of 17th Avenue S where a 59- year old man was found deceased in the roadway.

Investigators said they learned that a physical altercation had occurred between the deceased man and Walker, with whom he was socializing with in a nearby empty lot. During the fight, the man suffered an injury and died.

Walker was taken into custody on the separate charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. For now, officers said, that is the only charge Walker faces.

The death is still under investigation and any charges are pending.

The name of the deceased man is being withheld until his next of kin are notified.
