A pedestrian died of injuries he suffered in the crash, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg man has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed a pedestrian, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

James R. Igler, 74, died Thursday (March 28) of injuries he suffered in the March 16 crash.

Dwight Horne, 48, of St. Petersburg, was arrested Sunday (March 31) and charged with Leaving the Scene of a  Crash Involving Death.

The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and 28th Street N in St. Petersburg.

Police said Mr. Igler was in a marked crosswalk on 28th Street N when he was hit by the Ford F150 pickup truck Horne was driving. The truck was northbound on 28th Street N crossing Central Avenue when it hit Mr. Igler.

Horne left the scene but, police said, they caught up with him more than 35 blocks away.
