St. Pete Police Arrest One in Shooting, Home Invasion

One man was shot during the incident, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG – A Pinellas Park man has been charged in connection with a shooting and home invasion, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Nicholas Stoufer was shot in the arm during the incident, police said. His injuries were not life threatening.

John Alam, 25, of Pinellas Park, was charged with possession of marijuana, home invasion robbery, and felon in possession of a firearm. He was injured during a scuffle with the people in the home and was taken for treatment before going to the Pinellas County Jail.

Police said Alam entered a house at 1401 28th St. N shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 23) to rob the people inside. The incident was drug-related, officers said.

Several men in the home wrestled with Alam. Alam shot Stoufer and the men held Alam down until police arrived.
