St. Pete Police Accuse Man of Barricading Himself, Child in House

The arrest came early this morning (April 25) after the man gave himself up, police said. The child is unharmed.

ST. PETERSBURG – Police here have arrested a man they say barricaded himself into a house with a 6-year-old child.

Fabian Williams, 31, was charged with domestic aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm , felon in possession of ammunition, and child abuse, according to St. Petersburg police.

Police said the incident started late Sunday (April 24) night or early this morning when the man argued with the woman with whom he was living. Police said he fired a shot then fled to a neighbor’s house with his 6-year-old son. The SWAT team was called to respond and evacuated some nearby homes in the area near 28th Street and 13th Avenue N.

It is unclear how long the man remained inside the house before coming out.

The woman, her other two children, the neighbor and the man’s son were all unharmed.
