ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg man was arrested this morning (Oct. 31) after an early morning traffic crash on I-275 killed the passenger in one of the vehicles, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened about 3:37 a.m. on southbound I-275 south of 38th Avenue N. Troopers said Blackshear was driving a 2007 Mercedes sedan south on I-275 at a high rate of speed.

Troopers said he overtook and collided with the rear of a 2001 Hyundai sedan that Evans was driving. The impact caused both cars to spin. The Mercedes came to rest on the outside shoulder of the road. The Hyundai came to rest on the inside shoulder of the road.
