St. Pete Cop Stops Rapist
The officer was on routine patrol when he saw a woman being attacked.
ST. PETERSBURG – A St. Petersburg police officer found a man trying to rape a woman and arrested him, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Traymonte Snipes, 26, of Tampa, is charged with one count each of kidnapping and sexual battery with a deadly weapon.
The officer, a sergeant, was on routine patrol about 10 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 26) in the 500 block of 16th Street N when he saw a man trying to rape a 61-year-old woman. Police said Snipes had threatened her with a knife and forced her into an alley where he tried to sexually assault her.
