Four from St. Pete Accused in Hernando Vehicle Burglaries

Deputies were tipped off by a citizen who reported the thefts as they were happening, Hernando deputies said.

HERNANDO COUNTY – A woman and three men from St. Petersburg were arrested in Hernando County in connection with multiple car burglaries, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.

Robert Green, 18, and Leandre Millhouse, 21, were each charged with three counts of Vehicle – Crossing County Lines to Commit and one count of Grand Theft Auto.

Jaquez Rouse, 18, was charged with three counts of Vehicle Burglary – Crossing County Lines to Commit and one count each of Grand Theft Auto and  Fleeing and Eluding.

Dorrien Black, 18, was charged with three counts of Vehicle Burglary – Crossing County Lines to Commit and one count each of Grand Theft Auto Driving with a License Suspended or Revoked.

All three are from St. Petersburg.

Hernando deputies said that, early Wednesday (Dec. 19) morning, a citizen contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report four people stealing Christmas lights and committing vehicle burglaries in the Villages of Avalon. Patrol deputies were dispatched to the area.

Upon arrival, deputies said they saw a black SUV leaving the subdivision at a high rate of speed. As deputies tried to stop the SUV, the driver fled. While fleeing from deputies, the driver went off the roadway, which disabled the SUV.

Deputies took both occupants of the SUV into custody.

Meanwhile, other deputies remained in the Villages of Avalon searching for the other vehicle involved in the crimes. Deputies found it, stopped it and took both occupants into custody.

According to deputies, investigation revealed that the black SUV that fled had just been stolen from the (Avalon) subdivision and that each of the people who were in custody was involved in multiple vehicle burglaries to unlocked vehicles. All four suspects had traveled to Hernando County from St. Petersburg, to commit the crimes.

Detectives are contacting victims within the subdivision to return their property. Detectives said they also found property belonging to persons in other counties and are working closely with law enforcement agencies across the Tampa Bay area to determine if the suspects also committed crimes in those jurisdictions.
