One of the massage parlor employees was accused of not having a license, Hernando deputies said.
SPRING HILL – A massage parlor manager was arrested after deputies discovered he had been video recording clients without their knowledge, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.
Stanley William Arnold, 60, of Spring Hill, was charged with three counts of Video Voyeurism(installation), one count of Video Voyeurism (broadcast), and one count of Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information, all felonies. He is the husband of the massage parlor owner.
One of the massage parlor’s employees, Xiaoping Guangzhou Smaller, 55, of Myakka City, was charged with one felony count of Unlicensed Practice of a Healthcare Profession.
Deputies said they were acting on a tip when they and officials from other agencies executed a search warrant Friday (March 15) at Great One Oriental Massage, 4121 Mariner Blvd.in Spring Hill.
Through the course of the investigation detectives said they discovered that Arnold had installed covert video cameras in three of the four massage rooms at the business, with the ability to monitor the video unbeknownst to clients.
Arnold told investigators he was managing the location and used the cameras to ensure employees were not participating in any illegal activity.
Investigators also learned that Arnold employed Smaller, an unlicensed massage therapist. Deputies said Arnold placed a photo of Smaller over the photo of a former employee’s licensed massage therapist credentials in an effort to deceive customers.
Smaller admitted that she had been performing unlicensed massage therapy at the business since January.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement helped retrieve all of the electronics used on the premises. It will take extensive time for investigators to examine all of the collected evidence. The Department of Homeland Security also helped in the investigation.
The Florida Department of Health helped inspect seven other massage businesses operating throughout Hernando County. Those businesses inspected are as follows: Asian Massage Therapy, 7243 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill; M Massage, 130 Commercial Way, Spring Hill; Natural Massage, 5135 Commercial Way, Spring Hill; Orange Sauna and Spa, 9260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville; Sunshine Massage, 3073 Commercial Way, Spring Hill; Sunny Massage Therapy, 7370 Broad St., Brooksville; and Ying Wellness Massage, 60 Commercial Way, pring Hill.
Only minor violations were found at a couple of those establishments. Deputies said those were handled by the health department. No covert cameras were located at any of the other seven businesses.
