Spring Hill Man Accused of Murdering Three in Kentucky

When he was caught in Pinellas County, he was wearing a ballistic vest and had an AK47 assault rifle on the passenger seat of his vehicle, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies here helped catch a Spring Hill man who is accused of a triple homicide in Kentucky, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christopher Cruz Olivo, 36, of Spring Hill, was taken into custody about 10:13 p.m. Friday during a traffic stop at U.S. 19 N and Ulmerton Road. Deputies said he was wearing a ballistic vest and had an AK47 assault rifle on the passenger seat of his vehicle. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail on an arrest warrant from the Louisville (KY) Metropolitan Police Department which will charge him with three counts of murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Olivo is accused of murdering a man and two women while inside a residence in the 6400 block of Venango Drive in Louisville. Two juveniles were unharmed inside the home, which Olivo fled taking his 3-year-old daughter with him. She was safely located in Hernando County.

Louisville police coordinated with the Pinellas Sheriff’s Office and authorities in Hernando County to locate Olivo. Members of the Violent Crimes Task Force were sent to arrest Olivo. The VCTF is a countywide, multi-jurisdictional task force that focuses on violent crime in Pinellas County. The task force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Pinellas Sheriff’s Office, St. Petersburg Police Department and the Clearwater Police Department.

More details regarding Olivo’s capture will be released during a news conference planned for Monday at Louisville police headquarters.
