Shooting Was Murder, Tampa Police Say

The man died of multiple gunshot wounds, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – Officers are investigating a shooting that left one man dead this afternoon (Jan. 24), the Tampa Police Department said.

Malik Torres, 20, died of multiple gunshot wounds. Police said they were called to N 26th and E Emma streets about 12.51 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Mr. Torres with multiple gunshot wounds and began providing first aid. Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and, after providing emergency medical attention, pronounced Mr. Torres dead.

A 2009-2010 light colored sedan with tinted windows was seen fleeing the scene, police said. While robbery does not appear to be a motive, the investigation is active and ongoing and detectives said they are continuing to develop leads.
