The woman punched him in the head when he grabbed her breasts, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A registered sex offender has been accused of groping a 64-year-old disabled woman, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jacques W. Fields, 34. of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count each of lewd and lascivious battery of an elderly/disabled adult and one count of felony battery. The identity of the eoman is being withheld.

Deputies said the incident happened about 5:30 a.m. Saturday (July 15) at the woman’s home in unincorporated St. Petersburg. The woman was sitting in a chair outside her home when a man, later identified as Fields, whom she did not know approached her and offered money to have sex with her. The woman said no and told the man to leave multiple times. The man refused to leave and started advancing towards her.

The woman went into her home where her three grandchildren were sleeping. While searching for a weapon to defend herself with, Fields walked up to the front door. The woman went back outside to confront him. Deputies said he grabbed her breasts. The woman punched Fields in the head and screamed for help, causing him to flee.

The woman received minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Deputies searching the area found Fields walking a short distance from the woman’s home. Deputies said Fields fit the woman’s description of the man and gave conflicting statements about his
whereabouts. The woman later identified Fields as the man who had grabbed her.

Deputies also determined that Fields was listed as a registered sexual offender after he was convicted in 2005 of sexual battery.
