New Port Richey Police Charge Man in Hit and Run Death Case

The accused left the scene of one accident with a dead body on the hood of his car, New Port Richey police said.

NEW PORT RICHEY – Police here have accused a New Port Richey man of multiple crimes arising from a series of traffic accidents that left one man dead.

The dead man’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his family, New Port Richey police said.

Marc Thomas Boysen, 43, of 4535 Floramar Terr. in New Port Richey, was charged with one count each of felony DUI, DUI accident involving death, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash involving death, according to Pasco County Jail records. All are felonies. He was also charged with three counts each of DUI with property damage but no injury and of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. All are misdemeanors.

New Port Richey police said the incident happened around 12:01 a.m. Saturday (July 23) at U.S. 19 N and Main Street, the 6400 block of U.S. 19 in the southbound lanes and the parking lot of the Winghouse, 6515 U.S. 19 N.

Boysen was driving westbound on Main Street approaching the U.S. 19 intersection. Boysen’s sedan crashed into the rear of a car stopped at that intersection, officers said.

Boysen drove away going north on U.S. 19 in the southbound lanes. His car then crashed head-on into a scooter. The scooter driver was killed instantly and his body landed on the hood of Boysen’s sedan, officers said.

Boysen continued driving with the body on the hood. He sideswiped another vehicle and continued north in the southbound lanes, police said. He turned into the Winghouse parking lot where he crashed into a parked car. The impact threw the body off the hood of his sedan, police said.

Bystanders from the Winghouse rushed Boysen’s car, got him out and held him until police arrived, according to officers.
