Police Make Arrest in 2017 Murder of Gulfport Man

The shooting happened when the two met for a drug deal, according to Gulfport police.

GULFPORT – A St. Petersburg man has been arrested in connection with a 15-month-old murder of a Gulfport man, the Gulfport Police Department said.

Marquelle Drymon, 22, of St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of second degree murder in connection with the July 4, 2017 shooting death of Joshua Allen Monroe, 31.

Police said that Mr. Monroe and Drymon knew each other as friends and as drug buyer/drug dealer. The two met for a drug transaction that led to a physical altercation during which Drymon shot Mr. Monroe multiple times. Mr. Monroe was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died of his injuries.
