Plant City Man Accused of Murder

He stabbed another Plant City man, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

PLANT CITY – A Plant City man has been accused of murder in the stabbing death of a business owner, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

James Michael Meeks, 23, of Plant City, was charged with the second degree murder of Moses Wilson, 49.

Deputies said Meeks got into an argument with Mr. Wilson about 10:10 p.m Saturday (Feb. 24). The argument escalated when Meeks armed himself with a pocket knife and began threatening Mr. Wilson.

Mr. Wilson went into his business, which doubled as his residence, at 4308 James L. Redman Parkway in Plant City. Deputies said Meeks followed him into the business/residence with the pocket knife in hand.

Witnesses told deputies they saw Meeks stab Mr. Wilson two to three times with the pocket knife. Mr. Wilson suffered two cuts/punctures to his left leg and one to his right thigh. Mr. Wilson died at the scene.
