Pinellas Wolf Pack Charges 13 with DUI

The wolf pack was a joint operation between the Pinellas sheriff and other police agencies.

PINELLAS COUNTY -Members of a countywide law enforcement wolf pack that targeted drunken drivers filed 40 criminal charges and issued 97 citations during the 10-hour operation.

The wolf pack was run from 7 p.m. Friday (July 1) through 5 a.m. this morning by the Pinellas County sheriff in partnership with other police agencies.

The results:

Criminal Charges:
13 DUI
4 possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor)
7 possession of a controlled substance (felony)
1 possession drug paraphernalia
4 fleeing and eluding (motorcycle)
5 misdemeanor driving while license suspended and/or revoked with knowledge
2 driving while license suspended and/or revoked with knowledge (felony)
2 felony burglary/battery
1 leaving scene of a crash with injury (felony)
1 obstruction of justice
Total Charges – 40

Citations:
12 driving while license suspended or revoked with knowledge
24 speeding
61 citations for other moving and non-moving violations
Total Citations – 97

The operation was part of the Sheriff’s Office ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of a wolf pack is to educate drivers and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DUI wolf packs continuously throughout the year.
