Pinellas Sheriff’s Employee Accused of DUI
The woman, a criminal justice specialist, was fired after the arrest, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
PINELLAS COUNTY – Pinellas deputies say they charged a non-certified sheriff’s employee with DUI early this morning (Dec. 17).
Janet L. Schreiner, 47, was charged with one count of driving under the influence. She was fired after the arrest. A criminal justice specialist in the sheriff’s department of detention and corrections, Schreiner had worked for the sheriff since January 2013.
Deputies assigned to the DUI unit said they saw a 2007 Toyota truck traveling westbound on Bay Pines Boulevard approaching Seminole Boulevard about 1:50 a.m.. The truck was weaving.
The vehicle had turned northbound turn onto Seminole Boulevard when deputies stopped it. Schreiner, who was driving, identified herself as an off-duty Sheriff’s Office employee, deputies said.
Deputies said Schreiner showed signs of impairment and a breath sample indicated she had a blood alcohol content of 0.229/0.229.
