Pinellas Sheriff’s Employee Accused of Domestic Violence

He hit and choked his wife, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

LARGO – A criminal justice specialist at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has been accused of hitting and choking his wife.

Joshua B. Volz, 35, of Largo, was charged with one count each of domestic battery and domestic battery by strangulation. Volz works for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is a non-certified,
employee assigned to the Department of Detention and Corrections. He was hired by the sheriff’s office Oct. 20, 2006.

Deputies said Volz was arrested about 3:24 p.m. Tuesday (July 18) by the Largo Police Department. According to the Largo arrest affidavit, the incident happened about 6 p.m. Monday (July 17) at Volz’s home in Largo. The affidavit said that an argument between Volz and his wife became physical when he struck and choked her. Mrs. Volz received minor injuries to her face and head, according to the arrest affidavit.
