Another seven suspects are still being sought as a result of “Operation Room Service,” a sting operation the two agencies conducted for more than two months.

TARPON SPRINGS -Fourteen were arrested Friday (Aug. 14) after a sting operation that began June 30 as part of a collaboration between the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

One of those arrested was Jareem Roach, a witness in the Dec. 21 shooting death of Tarpon Springs police Office Charles Kondek, according to sheriff’s deputies. Roach, 25, of 199 Grand Blvd, Tarpon Springs, Apt. 5, Tarpon Springs, was charged with possession of marijuana and four counts each of the sale of crack cocaine and the possession of crack cocaine.

Deputies said the partnership between the two agencies – called “Operation Room Service” – was designed to target narcotics sales in and around the Tarpon Inn and the Sun Bay Motel, both in Tarpon Springs. During the operation, detectives purchased drugs from 21 different suspects. As a result of this operation, a total of 84 criminal charges were established. The majority of the charges included narcotics sales involving crack cocaine. Other charges include sale of methamphetamine, sale of Oxycodone, and felon in possession of a firearm. Fourteen were arrested and detectives are seeking seven more.

Tarpon Springs Police Chief Robert Kochen described the narcotics issues at the local motels as a “Charlotte’s Web of drug dealing thugs, all interconnected.” He said that “Operation Room Service” was a “very successful operation” and good partnership with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
