The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has received a grant that will allow deputies to target drunken drivers during an eight-month project that begins Saturday (Feb. 3).

PINELLAS COUNTY – The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has received a $34,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation for DUI enforcement.

The grant will be used to fund a DUI enhancement project in Pinellas County.

Beginning Saturday (Feb. 3) and through Sept. 30, Pinellas deputies will be conducting “saturation patrols” throughout Pinellas County. During the saturation patrols, deputies will be searching for impaired drivers, speeders, and drivers not using safety belts among other traffic violations.

The locations of these saturation patrols will be in areas known for impaired driving activity and depend upon activities occurring in the community.

The saturation patrols will be in addition to the quarterly multi-jurisdictional DUI Wolf Packs, which will continue throughout the year.
