Pinellas Sheriff Targets Drunk Drivers

Drunk Driving | DUI | Wolf Pack

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a DUI wolf pack, or saturation patrol, tonight.

PINELLAS COUNTY – While it’s never wise to drink and drive, that’s especially the case tonight in Pinellas County.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a “saturation patrol” tonight (April 20) aimed at drunken and impaired drivers. This is a continuation of  a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation the sheriff received Feb. 3.

The saturation patrol will begin at 6 p.m. tonight and will continue to 5 a.m. Saturday. During the saturation patrols, deputies will be searching for impaired drivers, speeders, and drivers not wearing safety belts among other traffic violations. Deputies will be located throughout Pinellas in areas known for impaired driving activity.

The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the saturation patrol is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), the Suncoast Safety Council and Chaplain’s Outreach Ministries will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DUI enforcement continuously throughout the year.
