Pinellas Sheriff: Soldier Had Sexual Relationship Over Internet with Minor

The relationship with the 14 year old lasted from February to November, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A soldier from Fort Campbell, KY, was charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor over the internet, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incidents happened in both Pinellas County and Fort Campbell, deputies said.

Peter Maxx Matlock, 23, of 82 Texas Ave., Fort Campbell, KY, was charged with three counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor by electronic device and one count each of certain uses of computer services or devices prohibited and unlawful use of a two-way communications device. Deputies said Matlock admitted to the allegations. He was arrested Wednesday (Dec. 28) night in Clearwater.

The victim’s name is being withheld because of her age.

Deputies said their investigation began Dec. 7 when the victim, who was 14-years-old at the time, told deputies that she had a 10-month online relationship with Matlock that turned sexual in nature.

The victim told deputies that Matlock communicated with her through Facebook, Skype and text messages. During their communications, she said Matlock requested and obtained numerous nude photographs from her and, using Skype, the two simulated sex while on video. Deputies said that Matlock knew the teen’s age during the relationship and discussed the potential criminal consequences for his actions on multiple occasions.

Deputies said they recovered evidence that corroborated the girl’s statements. Deputies interviewed Matlock at his parent’s residence in Clearwater.They said he admitted to the allegations.
