The incident happened at a school in the unincorporated Lealman area, deputies say.

LEALMAN – A 16 year old has been accused of sexual battery on a 14 year old while at school, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Zarif Mingo, 16, of 3505 18th Ave. S in St. Petersburg, was charged with one count of sexual battery, deputies said.

The incident happened about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7) while school was in session at Lealman Innovation Academy, 4900 28th St. N in the unincorporated Lealman area. Deputies said the victim, whose name is being withheld, met Mingo in a hallway at the school. Mingo, a fellow student, asked her to go into an unoccupied classroom with him and she refused. Deputies said Mingo used physical force to pull her into the empty classroom against her will, where he sexually battered her. The girl reported the incident to friends at the school.
