Pinellas Park Police Investigate Murder

A St. Petersburg woman was shot and killed in the street near Pinellas Park City Hall. She had just come from a practice with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra.

PINELLAS PARK – Police here are investigating a murder that happened Monday (Feb. 12) night in the street near Pinellas Park City Hall.

Caroline Morton-Hicks, 59, of St. Petersburg, died at the scene.

Officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department have confirmed that Ms. Morton-Hicks was attending a practice session with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4951 78th Ave. N, earlier Monday evening. After leaving the practice session, Ms. Morton-Hicks was involved in some sort of altercation in an adjacent parking lot between the PAC and Pinellas Park City Hall, 5141 78th Ave. N, with one or more unknown people.

After the altercation Ms. Morton-Hicks ran from the parking lot and was then shot by an unknown person(s) in the 5100 block of 78th Avenue.The investigation is ongoing and there is no suspect description or information to release.
