The wolf pack was a joint effort of six law enforcement agencies.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Law enforcement officers filed a total of 32 charges and issued 125 citations during a 10-hour DUI wolf pack that ended Saturday (March 4) morning.

The wolf pack, which started at 7 p.m. Friday (March 3) and ended at 5 a.m. Saturday, was comprised of officers from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Highway Patrol and the Belleair, Kenneth City, Gulfport and St. Petersburg police departments.

It is unclear how many drivers received citations or had criminal charges filed against them because some could have been cited or charged with more than one violation. The total charges and citations:

1 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
1 Violation of Driver’s License Restriction

The operation was part of the sheriff’s ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving, according to the sheriff’s office. The goal of a wolf pack is to educate drivers and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DUI wolf packs continuously throughout the year.
