PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies have accused a woman of stabbing her husband to death after a domestic dispute.

Mary Georgia Pender-Michielson, 52, who lives in the unincorporated Seminole area, was charged with one count of second degree murder. Her husband, Bruce Allen Michielson, 41, died Monday (July 10) at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was taken after the stabbing.

Deputies were called to the home about 3:23 a.m. Monday (July 10) after a woman who identified herself as Pender-Michielson called 911 and said her husband had suffered a knife wound to his chest during a domestic-related argument. When deputies arrived, they said, they found Mr. Michielson unresponsive.

Mr. Michielson was taken to Bayfront and Pender-Michielson was taken by ambulance to West Bay Largo Medical Center for a non-trauma related medical complaint.

Deputies said Pender-Michielson admitted stabbing her husband in the chest with a large kitchen knife during the domestic dispute. Deputies said she gave investigators multiple inconsistent statements about what happened.

Pender-Michielson claimed the stabbing was in self-defense;however, deputies concluded the evidence did not support the justifiable use of deadly force towards her husband.

At the time of the stabbing, Pender-Michielson and her husband Bruce Michielson were the only two persons at their home. Witnesses confirmed there was a history of domestic violence between Pender-Michielson and Mr. Michielson.
