Domingo Maye | Pinellas Sheriff | Arrests

Deputies have accused him of sexually battering a minor.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies have accused a man of sexually battering a 5 year old child, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Domingo Maye, 42, has been charged with two counts of capital sexual battery on a child younger than 12. He was arrested Wednesday (Feb. 1), deputies said.

Deputies said their investigation began in November 2015, after the then-5-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital with injuries consistent with a sexual battery. The child told her mother that she had inappropriate sexual activity with 42-year-old Domingo Maye, whom the child knew.

When deputies tried locating Maye, they discovered that he had fled to his hometown near Mexico City, Mexico. Deputies said they got a Pinellas County warrant for Maye.

With the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, deputies said they were able to contact Maye and convince him to surrender to FBI Agents in Mexico City. Maye surrendered to FBI agents in Mexico City on Wednesday and was extradited back to the U.S. and then to Pinellas County.

Deputies said they interviewed Maye at the Pinellas County Sheriffs Administration Building about 11 p.m. Wednesday where he confessed to the sexual battery allegations.
