Another driver in the three-vehicle crash was also injured.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Four people, three of them investigators from the Pinellas Sheriff’s Office, were injured Tuesday (April 4) in a three-vehicle crash on Ulmerton Road.

Jana Mrkaja, the driver of an unmarked 2011 Ford Fusion belonging to the Sheriff’s Office, and her passengers, Michele Curd and Tiffany Tury, were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All three are investigators with the sheriff’s Office of Child Protective Service. Also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries was Jennifer Seaman, 51, of Seminole, who was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Mrkaja was driving an agency unmarked Ford Fusion east on Ulmerton in the unincorporated Largo area about 12:35 p.m. when the Ford she was driving was hit on the passenger side by a 2009 Mazda 5 driven by Ithiphon Lertprotsombat, 17, of  St. Petersburg, deputies said. Lertprotsombat, who was also headed east on Ulmerton, was changing lanes. The impact also caused the Ford strike the Hyundai, which was in the left turn lane for Coral Way. The Ford came to a rest in the westbound lanes of Ulmerton.

Deputies said they do not believe that either impairment or speed was a factor in the crash.
